Affrontando i bio-pic si corrono spesso due rischi.
O ci si può trovare di fronte ad un film terribilmente barboso, che ripercorre in modo piatto e senza ingegno la vita del personaggio di turno, oppure ad una pellicola strappalacrime ed enfatica fino alla nausea, dove il suddetto personaggio è eroico e senza macchia a tal punto da farci dubitare che sia davvero umano.
Con Il Discorso Del Re entrambi questi pericoli sono stati scongiurati nel modo più brillante che abbia mai visto.
Già dalla primissima, originale inquadratura di un microfono radiofonico degli anni '30 (anch'esso in qualche modo tra i protagonisti), la semi-sconosciuta storia di re Giorgio VI d'Inghilterra ci conquista permanently.

The director helps us with its quirky angles to give us a share of the situations narrated, rich in spite of the extraordinary facts of the case.
Without a single dull moment or a single dead time, the film wisely dispenses in English drama and humor expressed at the highest levels, outlining both the historical context in a comprehensible manner, targeted with hints and never redundant, that the royal family in a credible way, even "cinematic".
